Key Trouble with Automatic Doors. 2014 Honda Odyssey

I have a 2014 Odyssey Touring Elite and I love the features. One life saver is the automatic doors, but I find that sometimes the key fob door open buttons don't respond. Is it possible that the doors get de-activated in some states? It usually happens when I first use my car in the morning. I thought it was linked to the doors being locked, but I often have to get in the car and start it before the doors will respond to open automatically. Any ideas? Am I missing something?
