I plan on buying a 2014 Ram 2500 tradesman diesel 6 speed automatic crew cab. I plan on putting a steel flatbed on it. I am buying a 34 foot RV Trailer (not a 5th wheel) to pull behind it. It weighs 8500 pounds dry weight 975 pounds of tongue weight. also on the flatbed I am hauling an ATV it weighs 1000 pounds. My question is will the pickup handle that kinda weight or am I going to have to put some kind of over loads or airbags on it to keep it from sagging. Or would it be better to buy the 3500 1 ton. The problem I'm having is its pushing my budget, there are more incentives and rebates on the 2500 than on the 3500 and it would cost me another 2 to 3 thousand dollars more to upgrade to the heavier duty 3500.
