Dodge Dakota Water pump problems?

I had my 96 dodge dakota running, with jumper cables to start my jeep. Went inside to let the battery charge. Upon returning, there was water/antifreeze coming from under the truck. No visible hose bursting. Just light spray on top of engine. Mostly, water streaming from under the engine block. Cut off truck and still heard mechanical noise from the engine. Is the water pump a logical choice? Could it be driven to a shop for repair if close by? My husband is disabled and unable to help. Money is a real problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance!
