best value for used car - Nissan Maxima or Chevy Malibu

Looking for a basic used car to use to get back and forth to work. We are looking at a 2004 Chevy Malibu LS with 128000 miles and a 2004 Nissan Maxima SE with 135000 miles. Both in pretty good condition. Both are for sale for a little over $5000. Any thoughts on what the better value is? Thanks.
