2014 Mazda6 Sedan vs 2014 Kia Optima

I'm considering purchasing a new car this year. I have my eye on the 2014 Mazda6 sedan and the 2014 Kia Optima. I will be trading in my 2009 Chevy Malibu. My top price is $25,000 out the door. I prefer to have leather or leatherette seats and I would also like a sunroof...though I know at that price it might not happen, so they aren't deal breakers.

I have never owned a foreign car so this is new territory for me. I'm looking for reliable, good value and quality, safe, and something that will last me at least 5 years. I have had nothing but bad luck with the Chevy's I've owned...constantly something wrong and I am good at keeping up with maintenance etc.

So, what are your thoughts...Kia Optima or Mazda6?

Please let me know if you need more information from me.

Thanks!

Both great cars -- I don't think you can really go wrong with either one, really. That said, I simply like the styling and the clear drivers' focus of the MAZDA6. It also won a recent comparison test on Edmunds against the Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry -- pretty stiff competition.
