Cruise not Working

Just bought the car. The back up lights and cruise don't work. Previous owner said criuse worked before he had engine rebuilt. Just rebuilt engine less than 100 miles ago but since then the cruise hasn't worked. I have changed the fuse and tested it. Power on both sides. Bulbs okay. Light for cruise comes on but won't engage. Where do I go from here to solve this problem?

    I changed battery cruise started to work.

    Now put new back up light switch in transmission. Now the back up lights are working. Looks like we got this one solved.
