Engine dropped out of compartment....what damage could this have caused?

Was driving and hit huge bump. Car immediately made horrible sound and it felt like there was resistance. I immediately pulled over. Popped hood and engine was sitting crooked. Had it towed in. What evidently happened was the bolts in transmission broke, engine dropped down, bent my axel....etc. So insurance is fixing as comprehensive claim but they said there was no engine damage done. They took this morning and got alignment and the check engine light came on. What possible damage could this have done to my engine by dropping in the compartment while I was driving?
