edited March 2014 in Honda

On March 3, 2014 a semi truck hit my parked 2002 Honda CRV that has 138000 miles. The car was totaled. I would like the insurance company to replace my car with another Honda CRV with similar miles. Is this a possibility? They would like to settle asap what are my options?

    They won't do that.

They will offer to pay you "book" value depending on which book they use.

They will deduct for high miles.

It'll be up to you to take that money and go shopping for a replacement CRV.

Sometimes if you argue with them they will raise their offer a bit but not by much.

    Good luck!

Good answer above. You may also find the following article on Edmunds helpful: http://www.edmunds.com/auto-insurance/a-total-loss.html It offers a step-by-step guide for handling the insurance claims process in the case of a total loss.

Best of luck with your settlement. Hope you are able to move on quickly to finding a replacement!
