2002 Accord, grinding noise when accelerating?

I have a 2002 Accord, automatic, just over 200,000 miles on it, with a fairly recently installed rebuilt transmission. Recently started making a strange sort of grinding noise when I accelerate. It's worst when going fairly slow, like when I am going about 25 mph or so, wanting to get up to 35 or 40. Seems particularly bad when the RPM gauge is just about 2. No idea what's causing it. Also, not sure if it's related, but the other day the traction control light and check engine light both came on at the same time, and stayed on. Traction control light was off the next time I started the car, but check engine light has been on ever since. It is historically touchy though, and has come on for no apparent reason in the past, and then gone off again by itself. Anyway, any advice on the grinding? Thanks!
