cutting at 4000 RPM - 2000 Intrigue

hello i take the car to smog it but it fail because the car is cutting at 4000 rpm with little black smoke hard to seen it but i can smell it its stink

    Hi, my 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue is doing this as well. Did you find a solution?

    Hi seen_bawl. I found this on an Oldsmobile forum-"The engine is supposed to cut out at 4000 rpm when parked, that part is normal. My guess is that whatever sensor tells the ECU that the car is in gear, isn't telling it." Since my issue was also happening in park I will try and see if it repeats when in gear. http://www.oldsmobileforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15137
