2011 Subaru Forester - Drivers Seat is the most uncomfortable we have owned. Is there a fix for it?

We had Fords for years, no matter how cheap the Fords were ALL their drivers seats were all great.

We had an old Pinto and its seat was many times more comfortable then our 2011 Forester.

This is a huge disappointment. The Forester got GREAT reviews and the DEALER IS GREAT, however the drivers seat is the MOST uncomfortable seat I have ever sat in. I have not been able to get anything done or add to the seat to make it more comfortable. We have back aches also and long trips are not a good time.

We had a Saturn and one of the customers we met was really disappointed in the drivers seat in her NEW Saturn. Saturn took the seat out of her old Saturn and recovered with the new car upholstery.

I would put my old Pinto seat and re upholster the seat if we could in our Forester. In all the car reviews we read the Foresters seats' comfort was never discussed or reviewed if it had we might have purchased a Honda we were looking at.

PS I HOPE SUBARU IS READING THIS FORUM WE ALL NEED TO HAVE SOMETHING DONE, THIS WILL BE OUR LAST SUBARU AND I CAN PROMISE YOU WE HAVE SHARED OUR EXPERIENCE WITH OUT FRIENDS AND FAMILY

My only complaint about the seats is they are kind of small. You should try a few Toyota seats. The ones in my RAV4 feel like a park's bench.

I could hardly bend over anymore, I did not realize how much the Forester Seat was affecting my back. Recently I used a 2002 Focus we have with over 100,000 miles on it. Immediately I felt the relief in my back because the Focus Seat after 100,000 still was a better and more support seat then our 2011 Forester.

It makes us sick we love the Forester however every time we go some where I can expect to get there in pain and discomfort.

Our salesman used to sell Saturns and he told us Saturn actually installed a clients old Saturn in her new Saturn with material for the new Saturn.

An auto upholstery shop may be able to rebuild the seats (more foam, change the thigh support or lumbar, etc.).

We're in our sixties and I used to drive Crown Vics or similar for company cars and I can tell you that NO CAR COMPANY makes as good seats as American manufacturers. It's like tilt steering wheels, nobody else does it well (except Lexus for the tilt wheel). That said I noticed that our 2010 Legacy was causing similar problems for me when I bought it so I found one of those 1/4 round, 3-4" thick, 2 foot wide lumbar pillows and move it from car to car. I even put it in my BMW for long road trips and it works like a charm.

    Good luck.
