cam shafts break in time

i was told that when you install a new cam in your engine that you have to break it in right
or it will fail in a short time. I never heard of this, any help out there.........

    Camshaft lobes and lifter bases are some of the most highly loaded parts of an engine when the lobe's up and valve spring pressure is multiplied through the rocker arm ratio. Use LOTS of camshaft break in lube on the lobes and lifter bases, and run the engine at fast idle for 10 - 15 minutes after startup.
