2006 Dodge Charger stalling after refueling

Hi, I just wanted to make all 2006 Dodge Charger owners aware that there is a closed investigation on the 2006 Dodge Chargers, Magnums, and Chrysler 300s that involves the car stalling after refueling. It appears that in the past couple of years this is starting to happen more and more to people who own these cars.
The issue is that after fueling up your car you will drive a little ways down the road and the car will shut off and you will need to steer out of the way of traffic and restart the car. This will happen several times after refueling.
It appears that the issue is that fuel was observed entering the purge line prior to initial shut off of the fill nozzle. This causes fuel to escape from the fuel tank assembly into the evaporative system. The multi-function control valve’s refueling float stays stuck in an open position and is the cause of this issue. “Rich fuel” gets into the engine and the engine will shut down.
The dealership will convince you that you are over fueling the car and that you need to replace the charcoal canister and leak monitor. This is not the case! If you fuel above 7/8 of a tank you can still set off this issue. This will also not fix the issue. The next time you go to fuel up the car will shut off again if you fill the car completely.
The NHTSA has investigated the issue under investigation number PE13-016 and you can find more information at their site. Also, if you are having this issue please report it to the NHTSA site. Chrysler has issued a lifetime warranty extension for those affected, but unfortunately their VIN listing IS NOT COVERING EVERYONE WHO HAS THE ISSUE. Some of us have just been stuck paying to correct the problem out of pocket. Hopefully the investigation will be re-opened to cover the fuel tank replacements of all VIN numbers involved.
