I have a 2000 Dodge Caravan, 3.3. When I apply the gas, it back fires. The fuel pressure is good.

And I have replaced the catalytic converter. I have trouble keeping up to speed on the smallest of hills.

3.3 has a timing chain. chain stretch/slip is not uncommon on old/high-miles engines and can cause the symptom you describe.

could be bad pickup in distributer or bad crank sensor
