someone hit my new silver accord and now my bumper has a light green long scratch, but
no dent. People are telling me that it's faint and I shouldn't worry about, but I'm worried.
I know it's there. What can I do to get rid of the scratch.

Ain't that a royal pain in the ____? Get a new vehicle and someone messes it up for you. I know what its like, happens to me too.

There are things you can do, if you are real lucky and it is just a little paint rubbed on the surface you may be able to remove it using a little rubbing alcohol on a rag and rub it off. I did that on my Stratus that got a little white paint on the back bumper. Same issue, someone tapped it while it was parked and I didn't even have plates yet.

If that doesn't work there are compounds that can remove the paint but I am not an expert so I won't make any specific recomendatiopns. There are others that will. Also look through the post in Maintance under store bought waxes, there is a lot of information in there.

You can also use a product called "Brasso" that you can get in any supermarket hardware section. It's a light abrasive and should work. Smells bad, though.

I think it is made by Kit Wax. Got it at Wal-Mart for about $4. About 6oz bottle, bright yellow. Another good choice is DuPont #7 auto polish. About the consistency of jewelers rouge. 3M has several good products also.

If you bought it from a customer friendly dealership, go to the body shop and ask what they recommend. If possible, most will buff it out as a courtesy for a customer.

Every town has a shop, usually mobile that specializes in fixing things like this.

Get it fixed ASAP. If you leave it or do a poor job you'll be ticked off everytime you walk by your car.
