'04 Jeep Grand Cherokee idle issue????

I have an inline 6 4.0L JGC 2004 with around 180,000 miles on it. It has began to have issues starting sometimes and then the idle is almost as though it is struggling to get fuel or something. It idles up and down, up and down. Also when I drive it, if I go to brake and the mph get below 5 it tries to or does stall and cut off. Other times I will try to start it back and it will crank, but then cut off unless I hold the brake and rev the fuel pedal at the same time. I recently changed the fuel filter and it was so clogged and bad. The jeep ran like new for about 3 wks after that, then this current problem has arose. Anyone had this happen and figured out the issue? I would really like not to have to tackle the fuel pump if I don't have to.

Sounds like it could be a couple things. I would check for a vacuum leak, see if you can do a pressure test on the fuel pump. Check the fuel filter again, you could have a lot of dirt in your tank that clogged up the new one already. I would try the fuel filter first but keep that pump in the back of your mind.
