Audi TT Navigation System

My 2001 TT made in Canada, comes with a built in Navigation system, cd based. I have owned the car for 2 1/2 years and am now at the point where I would like to make the system operational. I get an error code 65535 "Internal Control Module Memory" and assume the error lies with the CD reader. My CDs are all 2002 error. I am assuming that they will work with 20010 units. I have a 2001 CD that comes up with the same error code. I can by a reconditioned reader, B series to match the Instrument Cluster. Before I put out the money can anyone offer me an opinion?
