SH-AWD is a very good AWD system
You're not going very fast through the mud in that picture. If you were, the sprays would be 10' high and dropping mud on your roof. That's how you know who's a serious mudder when you pull up at the local gas station/minimart/bait shop.... It's the truck with mud on it's ROOF.
Actually, you'd be surprised at how clean things stay when you have tires that fit INSIDE the wheel wells.
SHAWD is superior on any slick surface to any other system, in fact our MDX drives adroitly in situations that leave my 4wd FX4 F150 skidding around. The only issue with the system is that it has never been applied to an offroad capable vehicle and that it doesn't have a low range (for going downhill). As long as you drive on roads that are within the MDX modest clearences it will never get stuck, period.
