    This car is doing pretty well in this regard. Nobody has ever cross-shopped the two but check out the numbers from your long term Subaru Impreza. That car was smaller, lighter, slower and less fun to drive. And it only netted 2 mpg higher. Subaru has gotten better at getting efficiency out of AWD cars but BMW seems to do it much better.

    ~11K miles in 8 months and getting ~26 mpg (i.e. right at EPA spec), with minimal use of Eco Mode. A great road car!
