Many towns and cities, over the past few decades, have seen MAJOR changes in their car dealers, such as ownership, to complete shutdown. For example, in Lodi, CA, about an hour and a half east of San Francisco, we have lost FIVE car dealers over the past 15-20 years, such as Mataga Oldsmobile-Buick, which closed doors in January 2002 after GM started Oldsmobile's phase out just over a year earlier, Plummer Pontiac-Cadillac-Buick-GMC, a MASSIVE dealer, closed right before GM's bankruptcy, Geweke Ford-Mercury, closed in July 2010 amidst falling sales at that dealer, Geweke Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep-Kia, which very recently reopened under new ownership, and Lodi's FORMER Chrysler dealer, Weil Motors, which closed in February 2000. In all of San Joaquin County, though, we have lost a LOT more. In Stockton, SJ County's largest city, Saturn of Stockton closed in 2009, when GM decided to cut Saturn from its lineup, Stockton Lincoln-Mercury, closed around November/December 2006 when Big Valley Ford bought it out, Gene Gabbard Lincoln-Mercury-Honda, Stockton's former Lincoln-Mercury-Honda dealer, closed back in 1997, as owner Gene Gabbard retired(he died in '02), Chase Chrysler-Jeep closed last year after merging with Stockton Dodge Hyundai. Going south to Manteca, SJ County's third-biggest city, they lost even more. Sexton Chevrolet, bought out the former dealer, Tradeway Chevrolet in 2002, then finally closed in 2011. Manteca Pontiac-Oldsmobile-Buick-Cadillac-GMC, closed in 2010, after, get this, a divorce, and a massive legal settlement which took the dealer with it. Now finally, in Tracy, near Lawrence Livermore Laboratory, Mazzei's Pontiac Buick GMC closed in 2009 as one of GM's 'pink slip' dealers, and a VW dealer there, closed then reopened a few months later. So, I was wondering, what dealers have you lost? Please post city and state/province!

Lawrence Marshall, in Hempstead, TX (about 50 miles northwest of Houston. They had separate showrooms / lots for Chevrolet/Cadillac, Ford, Hyundai, and Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep.

Until recently, Lawrence Marshall, which employed about 240 people, sold more than 9,000 units annually and was one of the nation’s leading sellers of Chevrolet trucks
