Why not get a set of rubber mats? It doesn't have to be MB mats but something at Autozone ought to work nicely.

These older style Benzes have metal clips that can be purchased separately and installed to act as anchors for the floor mats. It's kind of a pain, but in unusual MB fashion they are actually dirt cheap (just a few bucks).

I second the rubber floor mats idea, but get some genuine ones, or some that fit properly...sites like ecstuning sometimes have random deals on fitted carpeted floor mats for ~$15 a set shipped.
