Is the concept of a Pre-Delivery Inspection unknown in the whole of the US or is it just the Porsche dealers in SoCal that missed the memo? Letting you drive off the lot with the tyres still up at "keep them round on the transporter" settings is borderline criminal IMHO.

PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) is generally part of EVERY vehicle manufacturer's procedures. That includes checking the tire pressures.

Where this becomes a problem is that tire pressures should be sett HIGH while the vehicle is in transit to the dealer and while in storage at the dealer (to prevent the tires from flat spotting), and adjusted IMMEDIATELY before delivery to the buyer. But PDI is usually performed shortly after the vehicle arrives at the dealer - and either the tire pressures are adjusted downwards (which sometimes causes the tires to flat spot) or they are left alone (and they frequently aren't readjusted later).

Basically, it depends on how good a dealer is following procedures - and the range is HUGE!
