Totally agree with the commentary about the large number of adjustmenst not necessarily equating to a better, more comfortable seat. To this date, the best overall seats I've ever owned were the seats in my NSX. They were highly UN adjustable but extremely comfortable, extremely supportive and even looked good. Porsche typically builds good seats.
What I'd love to see discussed in a future update:
1) Are the upgraded 14/18-way seats worth the additional cost?
2) How do the alcantara seats compare to seats with ventilated leather? (Especially when it comes to preventing swamp butt.)
EDIT: Never mind about #1. Re-reading Ed Hellwigs post about the seats, I see that he says that he wouldn't bother upgrading.
8 days without a post on this vehicle, I had forgotten it was in the LT fleet.
heh, someone probably checked it out of the garage and held on to it. Good thing I don't have access to the fleet.
The 14/18 way seats are worth the upgrade if you're doing any seriously sporty driving. The only downside to them (other than the cost) is that the leather is prone to wear much faster than these standard seats. The bottom and side bolsters are substantially more aggressive and some larger framed drivers find them uncomfrotable. They are perfect, IMO. but since you climb up into these things rather than down into them, they can (and often do) suffer from wear.
I just ordered a Macan S with the 14-way because it includes the electrically adjustable steering column, memory functions, and electric thigh extensions.
