"Oh sure, a burning Silverado would make for a fantastic blog photo,"... Got Photoshop? ;-)

With the rash of GM recalls lately, I've paused to wonder why. Is it really because GM's quality control is so poor or is it lawyer mongering and more overzealous CYA procedures due to the Cobalt incident? I find it hard to believe any company is so incompetent. I tend to think it's the more overzealsness of the lawyers. But that's just me.

I don't know. I had a 2009 Cobalt and drove it daily about 28k miles without any problems. I then gave it to my daughter whose kids drove it for a couple of years without any problems. I think that the recalls are like side effects for drugs. Thousands of people take a drug during the test period and one dies of a heart attack so that has to be listed as a potential side effect. I wonder how many Cobalts drove perfectly from 2007-14? The Press loves to overemphasize this sort of stuff and lawyers get rich. GM fessed up and is fixing the Cobalts that could have a problem so I think it is doing the right thing. I can't name all the GM new and fairly new used cars that I've driven year after year after year without warranty repairs or problems. That's why I buy GM vehicles.
