Transmission Rarity Mitsubishi Endeavor

Has anyone else run into an issue with the All-Wheel drive transmission for the 2004 Endeavor with the Mitsubishi transmission? My mechanic has the actual problem in that they built two types for only two years and only for the Endeavor. If anyone knows of a planetary gear with 18 teeth (not 21) that works or can tell me what they've experienced on these?
