Shift degradation - 2005 Jeep Liberty CRD

My 05 Jeep Liberty CRD developed rough shift, especially 3-4. A quick learn results is smooth shifting for several hundred miles. A transmission rebuild had no effect. Occasionally a P0234 error code is tripped. Cleaned MAF and replaced boost pressure sensor. No error code since. Transmission people have no ideas and the dealer is guessing.
