Looks like the old one. Very boring style

More lipstick on a pig, and that dash design is growing extremely old. I can't believe Toyota chose to copy that disgusting hunk of plastic. YUCK!

I guess if all you prefer a new face over function you should go elsewhere. If what you care about is more interior volume, better ride, lower load floor, high tow rating, more horse power and torque, and a usable 3rd row seat get the Expedition.

I agree, it's not the most exciting thing in the world to look at, but then again, what full-sized SUV is? And yeah, it may not be all-new but at least they're putting forth the effort to improve fuel economy in the existing model.

I agree too. Having owned the previous gen Expedition, and having looked at the new Suburban/Tahoe, I still would take the Expe. More torque with the Ecoboost and much better interior packaging. The raised floor to allow for fold down seats in the GM twins is plain dumb IMO. I would have liked to see a more comprehensive upgrade, but at least it's mostly up to date anyway.

I haven't seen the latest Suburban/Tahoe models, but I remember sitting in the new GM pickup models at the DC auto show. And usually, a Suburban had about the same legroom in back as a crew cab pickup. I was disappointed at how small the GM rigs were inside, considering their external bulk. Legroom and headroom about what you'd expect for something this size, but I found legroom lacking, both front and rear. The front seat didn't go back far enough for me to really be comfortable, while in back, my knees hit the seatback. This was on the crew cab pickup, but also the outgoing Suburban/Tahoe models. The Fords definitely seemed like they had better legroom...both the pickups and the Expedition models.

It's amazing though, how far these rigs have come. My Mom and stepdad still have a 1998 Expedition, and they've taken pretty good care of it. Well, I drove it last year, and my first thought was, what a piece of junk. It was slow, even with the 5.4 V-8 (I can probably blame getting accustomed to a supercharged Buick and a Ram Hemi for that, though), and I swear it wallowed like a 70's car....and I have a few 70's cars to compare it to! The interior also seemed pretty cheesy. But, I remember when those Expeditions were new, they seemed like they blew the GM competition away!

I don't need anything that big to haul or tow, so I'm not their target demographic. But if I was, I think I'd still be swayed towards the Expedition over the GM rigs. And, I'm more of a GM fan than a Ford fan!

With its squared-off but still bland shape this Expedition looks like it's from the 90s. Ugh. And it's based on the previous gen F-150. Double ugh. Anybody wanna buy a brand new outdated truck?

That's the name of the Ford game. How do you think many Ranger buyers felt buying a "new" truck that was 30 years old?

We have an 08 Navigator, and I like the minor revisions, but they just should have held off and done a total refresh sooner, obviously.
I don't care what Edmunds (or anyone else says), the interior, dash layout, and electronic fold down rear seats blow away the Yukon and Suburban. I was raised a GM guy, and although I like the exteriors of the GM products, their interiors are lacking. The main issue I have with our Navigator is the whacked transmission shifting, and it's really inexcusable. I'm looking forward to the next full redesign a lot.

With a 17 year old body design it is lacking in style. Ford has ignored this product for to long like they did the Navigator. I like my V8 powered vehicles so the V6 is not anything I will buy. For now I am sticking with GM for style and Engine sound I has a feeling that over time the V8 will win on engine life never had a Ford V6 last to 100,000 miles yet.

I think the Tahoe/Escalade/Suburban are very good looking SUV's, but they aren't any better looking that the Expedition, just different. Upright and square = greater interior volume than swoops and curves. The Expedition is a clean, masculine looking vehicle that I would have no problem owning if I wanted a full size SUV

As an aside, shouldn't this class just be called UV's? There isn't anything "Sport" about them.

There are Tahoes, Suburbans, and Yukons all over Manhattan as the limos. If you're not having your driver pilot you in one of these, you're not part of the in-crowd. The other day I saw the "updated" Navigator sitting all by itself off Madison looking changed, but stale and dated.
Even last gen GM's are still sought after transportation.

    AWFUL FORD FAILURE!!!

    1. ECOBOOST Engine has zero reliability beyond 90,000 miles. Ford already has massive lawsuits and reliability problems with their Ecoboost Engine with 1 turbo, imagine how reliable it will be with two turbos.

    2. Exterior Styling is terrible.

    3. Interior is cheap, not my opinion, check out Autoweek.

    4. Gear shifter on the floor instead of the column. Takes away useable storage space, difficult to reach when you need to shift gears, and right where you will spill your coffee.

    5. Engine gas mileage is terrible, ECOBOOST only gets 16 mpg. I get 17 mpg with my 1996/7 Expedition Eddie Bauer. And, it's a V8 with all leather interior, cab on frame tough, solid axle 4X4 that has gone where no SUV should ever go off road, and it has over 300,000 miles with only the radiator ever having to be replace.

Ford needs to redesign the Expedition. And, don't use the all aluminum F150 panels as it cost 2 or 3 times as much as steel to fix a dent. The Expedition needs a small Diesel, i.e., Dodge setup, or a V8 with cylinder shut off like Chevy.

I love my Old Expedition, but this replacement is an insult to Ford Expedition Owners and would be owners.

BACK TO THE DESIGN BOARD AND TRY AGAIN!

So I am hearing there might be a signficant redesign for 2016 - anyone heard similar or is this just another internet rumor?

We're beginning the new vehicle search mode ourselves and need capacity for people and equipment. Looking at GM models of Suburban/Yukon which like others have stated, interior space is disappointing for the exterior size. Spouse isn't sold on the look of the Expedition EL as this will be her vehicle.

    Any insights appreciated.
