New transmission and still no gears. 2006 Chevy TrailBlazer.

I have a 2006 chevy trailblazer. I was passing a car and lost all gears. Rpm went high and no gears. So long story short, bought a new transmission and put it in. Still no gears at all. What else could it possibly be? We are completely stumped. Don't know what to check next. Any information would be helpful.
