I do not currently have an OnStar-equipped car, but back when I did, the crash response feature was the reason I re-upped (partially at the insistence of my wife). Plus, I kind of liked the automatic email with my tire pressure, oil life info, etc.

Ooh the perks given to a well-known magazine critic.
Possibly, but in my experience, OnStar is pretty quick to give discounts or limited time freebies. A friend with a CTS called OnStar a while back to tell them that he would be dropping the service even though he liked some of the features, because he didn't think it was worth the price. If I remember correctly, they did something along the lines of giving him a month free, just to let him think about if he was using it at all. If he decided that he wanted to keep the service, they would give him a year at a discounted price.
