2005 Mitsubishi Montero Limited towing capabilities

Can I safely tow a Lance travel trailer weigthing 2600 lbs. with a 2005 Mitsubishi Montero Limited?
Will I harm the vehicle's transmission? Can I install the towing package (brake controller, seven prong connector, weight distribution)?
