Motion-sensing car alarms should be abolished. I would go as far as to say that ALL audible car alarms should be abolished, but at least a window-break alarm (for example) will only sound when it has a good reason to. But motion-sensing alarms, with their 99% false alarm rate, have merely served to turn us all into people who hate #$&% car alarms, which is close to the opposite of their intended purpose.

I agree with misterfusion. If all car alarms only went off when the door, trunk or hood was opened then they would actually be useful. Motion sensors and impact sensors sound like a great idea but in the real world they just aren't. If whenever you heard an alarm sound you knew that someone was opening a door that they weren't supposed to be opening then people might actually take notice rather than roll their eyes at yet another false alarm like they do now.
