Ford Ranger 2.3 icm changed without disconnecting the battery. Can do what?

1994 2.3 Ford ranger. Changed icm to hopefully fix a code224 or coil connection problem and after changing, absolutely no fire. Could I havedamaged the CKP sensor? ECM? BECAUSE I DIDN'T DISCONNECT THE DANGBATTERY
