It is good to have a speedy service, but on the other hand we are not buying a toaster so spending a bit of time every 5 years is hardly a hardship for "busy professionals".

Lots of people say it's faster to close on a house than it is to buy a new car. But they forget about all the behind the scenes stuff that has to be done by the title company and others before you sign the forms. That can take weeks.

Many cars are appliances these days, but you don't have to register and title your toaster and let Homeland Security know how you are financing it.

One more step saver would be to skip the finance person and ask your saleperson to deliver the new car to your home. You can sign the paperwork at home (or digitally) easily enough, but it does deprive the dealer the opportunity to upsell you on an extended warranty or paint protection.
