Fuel additives

I have used Chevron Techron in all my vehicles since early 80's when some dealerships were using it as part of normal maintenance. M-B still recommends it and some M-B dealers use it as part of routine maintenance.
Nissan Rogue Owner's Manual says do not use any fuel additives. Why not? Contacted Nissan and they said I have to ask dealer. Of course dealer will say not to, because he wants to sell a $100 fuel injection cleaning service every year or two.
What do you think about Techron?

I use it, and would be confident using it in any car, any time (according to directions, of course). Nissan may say that because they don't want to pick the 'ok' additives from the 'not ok' ones.
That said, I use Techron rarely, I use a 'Top Tier' gas that's both near me and no more expensive than other brands (QT). Fuel additives aren't needed very often.
I also use Top Tier gas, either BP or QT. Will probably continue to use Techron as from my research only premium gasolines have the injector cleaning additives. Even some of those might not be as good as Techron.
Thanks for the response.
