So when no one is in the car it has a clean sleek look, then when you start it a needlessly complicated vent rises from the dash.

And it does not fit that well when down.

How much will that cost to fix once it breaks after 5 years of ownership? Maybe for the typical Jag customer this doesn't matter, as they get new cars before the warranty runs out. But for people like me who want/need cars to last 10-15 years, useless gimmickry like this probably doesn't help reliability.

Not only silly but the only purpose is to make the car's interior look better when you're not in it than when you are. Actually, that's not true. The purpose is to give the salesman something to show you when sitting in the car on the showroom floor. You are amazed by trick, buy the car and from then on, these overcomplicated vents are your problem.

If it's like my XF, you can program the vents to remain open. Which I will do when I'm out of warranty!

A fond, but bittersweet adieu to my '13 Jaguar XF. And so, I present this laurel, and hearty handshake to the new boss; '21 Audi A7 PHEV. '09 Jag XK , '05 Acura TL, '88 Acura Integra, '84 Mitsubishi Mirage Turbo & '78 VW Scirocco ; all special to me. And, of course, the '92 Nissan Sentra SE-R and '95 Saab 900s I bought for the ex... I've yet to buy a car I didn't like. Although, do I really want to drive a car that would have someone such as me as its owner?
