Argh, that dashes any hopes of getting s 2003 used on the cheap!
Thanks
You say the garnet is between the black and silver, I guess that means the silver also show dirt easily??? What about the desert platinum and the new blue color.
Thanks.
Also, I would still like to see Infiniti add more interior color options (light to medium gray).
Thanks.
That's only because not many people ever keep their vehicles clean most of the time--certainly not descriptive of me! Basically, what it comes down to, is what color do you like the most, and how much effort are you willing to put into maintaining it? Being a detailer on the side, I'll probably never buy anything other than pure black (gorgeous on just about everything) because I never allow dust or dirt to accumulate much at all. The car never goes without at least 5 coats of sealant and/or wax either, so that's not an issue.
I will recommend one thing. Never go to a car wash, or, if you're desparate, go touchless. This is just about the worst thing to do to paint, other than letting birdie presents dry and bake all over the place. If you want minimal maintenance and don't have the time or want to be detailing often, go silver, beige, or a very light green. White's good too, but it can look quite disgusting when dirty enough.
Test drove the 6MT coupe to get a feel for tranny. WOW is all I have to say!! Putting down a deposit next week on a 6MT sedan. Most likely won't see one until May if I'm lucky! Wish me luck.
Thanks.
Read message boards about rattling and vibrations in your new cars.
Need to know if Owners with /leather package have the same problems.

I meant the silver would hide the dirt the best, the black would be the absolute worst, and the garnet is somewhere in between.
After driving for a couple days immediately following a snow event, my Garnet Fire G35 did look very dirty. However, I washed it about 1 week ago, and while it is not sparkling clean, it still has a bit of a shine to it. I am very happy how it is not screaming "wash me".
I'd like to wax the car myself occasionally. After applying the wax with the supplied sponge, what do you recommend using to buff off the wax and avoid swirl patterns in the paint?
A suggestion is to run your hand across the paint after the car has been cleaned, it should feel like glass. If it doesn't then the surface has small particles of dirt, etc.
One approach is to use detailers clay. This clay is applied to the finish and it absorbs the particles of dirt that are on the paint. In addition if the paint is in poor condition you may need to polish the car to get rid of imperfections (scratches, etc.).
Finally when the paint surface is totally clean apply the wax and feel free to buff to your hearts content. I use a dual action polishers to make the job easier. Keep the paint surface clean by occaisionally wiping the surface down with detailer's solution (lubricates the paint and helps collect dirt in the towel). by the way you should only use 100% cotton or a microfiber cloth on the paint surface.
A good resource for taking car of paint is www.griotsgarage.com. Their stuff is kind of expensive but you can learn alot about caring for car finishes and buy your products locally. I do buy their stuff and it is good.
So my priority is to replace the stock set-up with a good cat-back system when available.
Has anyone done some research on this? Borla, Magnaflow, Nismo, etc?
I've heard February, but it's still not an option on the infiniti.com website.
Also, are they going to be produced in regular numbers? I would hate to have to pay "extra" (ie, over MSRP just b/c of limited supply) just to get a manual tranny.

starts at 29,100
AWD is looking to be very late 2003 or early 2004.
I don't think I could wait that long. I've had my G35 for just over 3 weeks now, and the odometer has just passed 600. I'm going crazy waiting for 1200. Though, as a consolation, even under break-in rules it toasts the 92 Accord it replaced. (That's 4-cyl, AT, pre-VTEC, if you want to feel my past pain.)
The Nismo exhaust will be available first for the Z, then for the Coupe. Haven't heard anything about the sedan.

Has anyone heard anything about the garnet fire being replaced with the laser red or some other brighter red???
Also you can no longer get the graphite interior with the white/pearl exterior.
I do not understand Infiniti's choices for interior colors. First only two choices at the extremes just doesn't seem smart to me. The willow is too light and the black/graphite, I like it, but it is too dark. These two options would be ok it you had at LEAST a third/middle choice. I still believe they need an interior color like a light to medium gray. Then the buying public would have better choices.
Anyway why have only one interior color option on some colors. (I realize that it is cheaper/more efficient to produce cars with fewer options/choices, but being more efficient will not do you any good if you do not give the buying public good choices.
Any thoughts on interior colors and if the red color is being changed?
Thanks.
I just got the Garnet Fire sedan and it is an awesome color, kind of a dark metallic burnt red. I think it looks great.
The lack of decent gas mileage has kept me away from the Automatic G35. Does anyone know what the mileage will be for the MT version?
The 29,100 price for the 6MT includes the sport-tuned suspension ($425), and I'll bet it's not available in cloth.
