I've leased my Subaru for almost 3 years now and want to buy it. I took it in for a MD inspection and the right, rear wheel bearing was worn out at 31,100 miles. It was covered under warranty, but wondered if this is par for the course for a Subaru? Otherwise, I'm happy with the SUV; considering buying an extended warranty (the min. is 6 yrs/80K mileage for $750)...most of the time I don't buy them because I figure they're not worth it but think I should this time. Would appreciate anyone offering any Subaru (Forester) comments. thanks!
Check out the Subaru Forester Board, and if you see this in the next few minutes, there's a live Subaru chat going on - the link is at the top of the Forester board.

Is anyone having difficulty with squealing brakes? My 2001 Tahoe which only has 15,000 miles has had this problem from the beginning and Chevrolet tells me it is normal.
The brakes on my 2001 Tahoe LT have squealed from the beginning. Chevrolet tells me it is normal, but I find it extremely annoying. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
I just wanted to say Hi. I recently started using edmunds.com, I am the owner of two suv's a 2001-Expedition XLT and a 2000-Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. I am looking forward to using this site.
Hola everyone! I'm looking for anyones opinion regarding the 2002 Envoy...anyone have one yet? And if so, what do ya think? Any test drives or info you can share with me would be very helpful!! Thanks!
Help! I'm shopping for an SUV for the first time and need advice on some of the less popular. I already know that Toyota and Nissan are the best, but I can't afford one less than 5yrs old. Can anyone tell me about the reliability of the Suzuki Grand Vitara? I really don't want a Ford or Chevy.
I began browsing to see if I recognize any problems that I am experiencing with my 2001 Tahoe. I am impressed with the helpers response team and I hope I can get some answers.
Hello everyone, I am new to the message boards. I am currently driving a '95 Mitsubishi Galant. I am now looking to purchase a new automobile and I just can't make up my mind as to whether I want a Mercedes ML320, Acura MDX or if I want to purchase another car Lexus GS300 or Acura TL S-Type...
I suggest looking at the several vehicle specific boards here and ask all the question you want. You'll find Edmund's users more than willing to share information and their experiences with those vehicles.
I've been thru 2 sets of wheels and tires. The darn thing continues to vibrate at 70 to 75. Is there a design flaw? Can this be fixed year model is 98. now have 70K miles.
Just wanted to say hello. I've been reading the boards for quite a while now (Esp. the Honda CR-V board where I have posted a message or two). Just purchased my CR-V today. Thanks for all the help. Heather
Since I am a newcomer, I though I would introduce myself.
I am of 16 years of age, in high school.
I drive a 1990 Ford Ranger XLT that has a inline 4 I believe (well, its inline something). It has an new paint sliver paint job (used to be a ugly gray), very shiny, a custom sliver tool box, a stainless steel after market bumper and fender, a black rubber matt for the bed, and a after market CD player. It has 130,000 miles on it, and it looks better now then it did new.
Problems currently: gas gauge says I am empty when I have 12 gallons in the tank. I have to wait my odometer to instead to keep the eye on my fuel.
This is my first car, and you may call it a 'sleeper'. When you put metal to the pedal, the engine falls asleep. Oh, how I long for a faster car... but I love my truck anyway.
I drive a truck instead of a SUV, but this is the only introduce yourself board I saw other than the hatchback board, and most SUV's ride on truck chassis anyway.
Hello, I seek help with a nagging front end vibration problem, remembered this discussion board, and thought I'd try to gain some knowledge. Looking forward to hearing from the experts!
thanks in advance, DAVIGF (George) ps. In SUV group, initiated thread called 98 suburban vibration design flaw? , or something close to that. Please reply.
I'm new to Town Hall, but I have been doing my research on new vehicles for a while. I used to own a '94 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, until I found out is was a salvaged vehicle. Don't ask! N-E way I got my money back:)
I just helped my mother purchase a 2002 Jeep Liberty Limited 4x4. Did some research before we went to a dealer and managed to pay $230 below invoice (see post#2249 under Jeep Liberty).
Anxiously, waiting for some ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZs (you didn't get it*sigh*Nissan 350Z)
I LIVE IN THE DC/MD/VA AREA. I AM INTERESTED IN PURCHASING A 2002 RX300 WITHOUT THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHATS A GOOD PRICE TO PAY. ONE DEALER IN MD QUOTED ME A PRICE OF 37,000. THANKS
Hi, I am new to this board. I seem to be having trouble gettting a response to my question (see 98 suburban vibration design flaw thread). Also, how do you get the word NEW to show up next to your thread. I added the one above, but it does not say NEW. Could this be contributing to the lack of response, or did I just ask a lame question?
"New" will show up only when a new message has been posted in the thread and you haven't read it. If you have just created a new message, it won't be flagged as "new" because the software knows you have already read it!
As to why your question hasn't been answered, I can't say but it may be that no one viewing the thread knows the answer or has relevant experience. If it's been a while since you posted the question you might try reposting it and maybe the timing will be better for an informed member to read and reply.
Check out our newest creations found in the Advice Section: a combined payment calculator and decision tool, together they assist consumers in making informed decisions in this incentive crazed environment. A couple of key points:
* The consumer has the ability to accurately assess their payment given the entered deal parameters.
* Based on the given input, the decision tool will clearly indicate which option is most advantageous when given the choice between a customer rebate and a subsidized interest rate (a la 0% APR).
* The True Market Value (TMV) tools are integrated into the calculators to assist the consumer in accurately assessing the deal parameters prior to walking on a dealer's lot.
This is just the first step in developing towards a comprehensive consumer decision tool that will be include an integrated "Leasing Calculator" and a "Buy Versus Lease" application. They will be truly industry leading. Yes, there are cheap "want to be" versions out there in the marketplace that, in my opinion, do more harm than good based on their over simplicity in logic and lack of integration (and some are downright wrong). The Edmunds version will not only be highly accurate, but it will be the first in the industry to make transparent the better way for a consumer to finance the vehicle (traditional financing versus leasing) as well as highlight the most advantageous term (48 month buy versus 36 month lease) based on sound present value financial analysis. And as one comes to expect from Edmunds, the user interface will be, well user friendly, with the complexity existing behind the scenes. Edmunds.com once again leading the way to making information and the consumer decision making process even more transparent.
Hi. Name is Don Taber. Own a 2000 Lexus RX300. Has about 9500 miles on it, and I'm having some (I think) tire problems. Tires are the usual Goodyear Integrity's; not great, and at high speed, I'm getting what sounds like buffeting (like when you open the sun roof with all the windows closed, but not nearly as severe). Dealer will give me a new set of tires of my choice, so I'm interested in finding out what others know about GOOD tires for the RX300
Had all but signed on the dotted line and then began reading consumer comments on site re 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd maintenance issues and now I am having a panic attack. I am afraid of buyers remorse for what may be a lemon year of this vehicle. What I wouldn't give for a reliable SUV that fit the budget. Any insights or lighthearted humor to calm me down?
Well, the JGC's reputation seems a bit spotty at times, but remember that people are far more likely to post about problems. When the SUV starts and runs everyday, there's nothing to write about :-)

Yes, quit thinking about hypothetical future problems and deal with todays problems. I read posts in here where people complain about rattles and squeaks in vehicles and they seem to worry them to death. Who cares if a 4500lb SUV squeaks and rattles a little bit, hell it is basically a truck. You buy a pair of Clod Hopper shoes and wear them, so who cares if they have a shoe creak as you walk. Makes me feel at home, I know it is my SUV and it is communicating with me ~ LOL. I wonder what these same people do, that worry about vehicle noises, when their house creaks and groans in the wind or the floor squeaks. Some people are just worry warts. As long as it gets me from point A to Point B reliably and safely who cares. Every once and awhile you will have some problems and/or a break down, so get it fixed and be on your way. Enjoy life and don't look at everything as a major problem or conflict. Ok enough philosophy <Grin> but I do find it amusing at how some people rail against sqeaks and rattles in an SUV. Also what I consider to be a minor irritation, some people think of the problem as being a reason the Dealer should take the vehicle back as a lemon. Everyone needs to keep things in perspective. It's not 9/11 everytime your vehicle won't start or it skips a beat on a cold morning!
Hi everyone. I'm new to the message board and would like to introduce myself. I've ordered a Patriot Blue Jeep Liberty Sport and am anxiously awaiting its arrival at my dealership. What I'd really like to do is talk to someone about the tire choice I made.
hi, i just started posting messages on the board. iam david. to maija, i to worried about the quality of my suv. last dec 26 i got the suv i always wanted, its a 96 toyota land cruiser. the wait was the price. i can now afford the payments but with this suv, and its history, iam not worried about its quality, or added cost of repair. whatever you buy, get the vin number and research its history. and enjoy whatever you decide on. its been a year now and mine has been flawless. good luck
I'm doing some research before buying a late model jeep wrangler. We already have an Expedition so I dont care about its lack of space. Mostly Im concerned about decent reliability.
Hello, I am brand new to this msg board and am looking for some advice/direction/information on purchasing my first suv. I would be looking for a vehicle probably 6, 8 or perhaps 10 years old. I have been considering the 4runner (early 90's) but am unfamiliar with which particular years might be best (or what the differences are between the years). An acquaintence of mine has an 89 4runner with only 60,000 miles (100,000 km) and would like to sell it but I'm wondering if it might be just a few years too old (although the mileage is good). It is also a v4 (don't know if I should hold out for a v6). These are all questions I am looking for feedback on from experience people 'in the know'. Perhaps I should be considering a different vehicle altogether - maybe a pathfinder. Any comments that might help me zero in on a decision? Thanks.
I recommend raising your questions in the respective 4Runner and Pathfinder forums which you can access on the front page of the Town Hall. People there are more than happy to share their experiences.
Thought I would introduce myself. I joined mainly because I recently purchased a 2002 Subaru Forester and I want a forum to discuss concerns, likes, dislikes, etc.
I live in Kansas. I am just waiting for some nasty weather to put this car through its paces.
I am sure you've checked out the Subaru Forester board by now - if not - you can find it on the SUVs forum. Most people there are Forester owners and are an excellent resource for learning all about real world experiences with the Forester.
I'm in the market for an SUV, and I recall how valuable Edmunds.com was when I bought a Pontiac Grand Prix three years ago. I'm looking at the Jeep Liberty and the Honda CR-X.
I was leaning toward getting another Grand Prix, but I test drove an SUV (the Liberty) and fell in love with it. I've decided to "upgrade," or should I say try something different.
If any of you have any insights regarding the Jeep Liberty and the Honda CR-X, I would appreciate it.
I've scanned all the message boards. Very helpful indeed.
Hi, 2000 Honda accord Ex. At times there is fluttering intermittant sound at speeds of 25 to 40 mph or while making right turns. asking for any assisstance or information in solving this problem thanking you in advance.
I bought my 2000 xterra new and although I like the looks of it, I would not buy another one. It's been into the dealer ship at least 10 times for problems. I am now looking to get away from Nissans and will be checking to see what everyone has to say about the new SUVs out on the market.

I've been posting here for awhile and love the convesations that can get started in here.
