Pathfinder auto transmission

I own a 1990 2wd Pathfinder XE which finally had its transmission quit after 211,663 miles.
I've already shopped for price for low mileage used transmission for it but I recently start
to wonder whether it is just as good idea to have it repaired. Do any of you have good service
from those national transmission repair chains? How are their prices, labor and warranties?
Right now, the car can only be driven forward. It does not back up or shift to neutral.
Thanks.

You are very lucky most fail at 100k or sooner.
The least expensive [long term is to get a factory rebuilt unit and do an exchange] as a partial repair will leave hundreds of not failed pieces still in the assembly, whereas most rebuilds have internals half your units age [miles].
The problem is dealers give a 12k/12 month warranty.....some National chains allow you to buy more coverage in either case the cost will exceed $2,000.
