Fact is that it will be difficult to make EPA ratings without driving as efficiently as the EPA testing specialists obviously do in order to get those very efficient ratings. I will say that with A LOT of discipline, by following the shift light indicator, using a very light throttle (0-60 in like 20+ seconds), and making all the eco-petals grow, I have been able to successfully pull combined mileage average up to as high as 27.5-ish mph with the a/c running all the time (manually calculated, not trip computer calculated). The potential is there if you can just control the impulse to feel the torque push you into the Recaros.

Sounds like you guys are still having a bit too much fun in that car, but hey we're car people it's what we do. I do 95% highway driving and typically only get the combined rating, on the rare tank where I exercise extreme restraint I can get the EPA highway rating.

You seem OK with the Focus getting 14% less MPG than the EPA, but seem surprised that the Dart is only 10% low, despite achieving better mileage overall. I guess the fun factor has something to do with it.

You guys likely drive much more aggressively than I, but my average is much better than yours. Since new, I'm averaging 27.5 mpg - 7500 miles and counting.
