    Great article and only one point missing. There is only one tool available for seat design that comprehends the complete list of issues you described from body size to safety, posture for the back to comfort. This tool is not in use. Research began in 1991 at Michigan State University and the math tool was developed and validated by ERL LLC from 2000-2008. It is based on a math model of the seat and digital human bodies that represent the small woman to the large man sitting in erect, neutral and slumped back postures. Currently, there is no seat design at the OEM where the interior architecture is established for head restraint, H-point tests, etc. and seat travel is defined by statistics. Only with a math tool like ERL, seat design can become part of advanced engineering at the OEM to create Design Position and seat specifications that meet the needs for healthy and comfortable seating for all drivers.

    My her car seats got dirty. I designed a washable car seat and solved the problem.
