The CVT might be here to stay, but none of them will be staying with me. The automatic transmission is a lot more durable, and I don't feel like totaling out my car because a CVT transmission broke down after 80k or 100k miles. It's just a matter of time before that rubberband transmission breaks. Durability has gone out the window... first, we're forced to accept front wheel drive... then the CVT transmission... and then the Stop/Start engine system. My 1999 Mercury Mystique all of a sudden doesn't seem like such a bad mistake.

I have a 2013 toytota avolon Hibyrd with CVT at 144000 mi it still has the same driving abilities the it had when I bought it off the show room floor in 2013. I am currently looking to buy a newer model automobile. Mostly for the convenience of the newest technologies. And you better bet that one of highest priorities will will be a CVT. The smoothness of acceleration can’t be beat. I drive at least 20000 miles a year and I don’t pussyfoot. If you are not a Sunday driver and truly like to get out in a good handling vehicle try it you’ll like it. By the way I have driven every thing from sport cars to 13 wheelers. Believe I know of what I speak!
