Our 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster has lots of great carbon-fiber trim.

Meh. Especially when it's used as trim, carbon fiber just looks like 21st century fake wood grain.

I agree with darthbimmer. Why do we even care about carbon fiber? Because its lightweight, strong, and seen on ultra-high-end vehicles. In of itself, there's nothing special about CF 'trim', and in my opinion doesn't really look all that good.

i'm ok with it as a trim material. however, about your comment about the ccx... exposed CF panels are perfectly fine with me so long as they're functional. given the SLS' porky weight vs. its relatively small physical size, perhaps it could use more of it.

I can't see why this is an appropriate use of CF, given the material's properties.

I guess "beauty is truly in the eyes of the beholder" because this looks garish, to me. For a more tasteful application of carbon fiber trim, see the Cadillac ATS.

Carbon fiber was meant as an engineering composite for specialized use for certain parts of the car; being used as tinsel in the cabin is pretty disappointing, especially since the car's monocoque or even most of the body panels aren't actually made of the stuff. But then again, if we can justify the use of wood, aluminum, leather, etc. in the interior then it's no different using CF. Just tacky =)

I love carbon fiber in structural, functional uses, but I don't like it as trim. Leather and wood are far better looking trim (sometimes)
