You need a ground loop isolator to get rid of that feedback hum caused by the charger. Costs about $10.

I don't why a lot of the European brands use the ipod specific jack instead of having a USB jack where you can plug in any type of device. This would prevent the plug from becoming obsolete as it has with Apple changing to the lightning cable.

Then again how many people with a quarter-million-dollar car don't have the right connector? I can't believe the signal quality is that good with the aux jack. And I would say that another "dislike" would be that you have to be putzing around with a hand-held phone while you're driving.

There's nothing wrong with the aux jack for signal quality. We're talking about compressed music files to begin with. The futzing around with the phone to go back and forth through tracks is pretty annoying though.

Isii: because then they couldn't charge $1,000 for the iPod connectivity.

I wish Apple integration wasn't the first thing to find its way into everything. Nothing wrong with the productions, but I should would like to control an Android, etc with the steering wheel controls.
I think some manufacturers are finally starting to realize this.. thankfully.

We have a rather cheap aftermarket head unit in our Taurus that has a standard USB input, and allows you to control the music either through the ipod or the head unit. Why can't they all work that way?
