Edmunds says: "Hyundai has struggled to gain acceptance for its Equus sedan, a Mercedes-Benz E-Class competitor"

Perhaps the Equus is in the same price category as an E-Class. HOWEVER, Hyundai competes with the established nameplates in PRICE. Thus, the Equus actually competes with the S-Class and L-series from Lexus.

Edmunds says: "The Equus is Hyundai's luxury sedan and the car's proportions are similar to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class." Guess why? Because they are trying to compete with the S-Class at a fraction of the price. The Genesis Sedan is likely a more direct competitor to the E-Class in terms of size and specs. Just awful reporting here..

The thing that I hope this does is keep BMW/Mercedes pricing in check since recently it seems they keep pushing the pricing up to new heights. How is it that you can go and buy a Ford Fusion for pretty much the same as a Ford Taurus cost in the 90's but a 5 Series is now $20,000 more?

@jakedasnake66: Because BMW is having no problem selling at that price point, so why would they cut into their profits?

I seriously doubt that Quoris is "pronounced "chorus". My wife has trouble hearing subtle distinctions in pronunciation, so I understand and empathize with the confusion. One might say it sounds similar to "chorus", but I would bet big money it is actually pronounced kwoh-riss.

The French produced the Ariane rocket and the Airbus at a fraction of the price of McDonnell-Douglas and Boeing because they didn't develop the technology - they just copied it. Would we like BMW/Mercedes to stop innovating? Personally, I think there is too much bean-counting going on at BMW already. Take the new, more numb steering for example; I'll bet some accountant said, "We will sell more vehicles if we soften up the suspension and steering feel."

Wish they would offer AWD as well, which has become sort of std in NE market. I would certainly give a try for a leased option on this one with awd.
