Stay away from Progressive Auto Insurance. When I called to speak with a representative and specifically asked her NOT to process my payment with my Visa card information on file, she went ahead and did it anyway. She did not tell me she was processing the payment, she did not give me any sort of authorization number and I specifically said i wanted to make the payment online myself so that I could print out proof of my payment. These people are reckless and irresponsible with their customer's private information and when I called in to address the issue, they showed no remorse. I've canceled my auto insurance with progressive due to the mishandling of the VISA card information which they were not supposed to keep on file - but did anyway. These guys just do whatever they want and help themselves to money out of your bank account. Their customer service reps have an abrasive and arrogant attitude. I shopped around and got a better deal at All State who treated me with the high level of customer service and professionalism that I used to get at Progressive but it now appears they don't care about their customers or privacy of information. They also had the nerve to charge me a $50 cancellation fee after having messed me around so badly... Stay away.
While extremely rare, an attorney doesn't need to just sue you for assets to make the difference between damage you've caused and your coverage limits; they can also dock your wages. Even if you don't have anything to lose, you should never have minimum coverage, especially for property damage, because not only do you run the risk of having wages docked for a LONG time, you're also running the risk of not having enough coverage to fix someone else's car if you hit it. And then you would be a huge jerk.
In case of disputes, complain to your state insurance commissioner.
All About car insurance
If you have been with a auto insurance company for 3 years accident and ticket free you should get a discount but again if you don't ask you wont get it. If they don't give it to you, shop around (i found $24/month rates at Insurance Panda)
If you are not working and don't drive you vehicle like normal make sure they know this and when you get your vehicle inspected for you can be exempt for low mileage.
Bundling does help but not as much as you thin so the answer to this is shop around and make sure you get a letter for homeowners, auto etc... that you are LOCKIN on that deductible. Reason I say this and I wont say which company has raised their homeowners deductible since we have been having so many storms causing extreme damage. If you haven't been with them and some less than 5 years your deductible was automatically raised and change, and you most likely weren't notified so they don't lose you as a client. SO EVERY ONE CHECK ON THAT.
