I like this simple setup. Especially in a Jeep. But auto journalists are too quick to dismiss more complex ACC systems. Sometimes ACC makes sense. I just had a rental Dodge Grand Caravan in FL and it had the more conventional manual setup but for the Driver, Passenger and Rear. Three zones is simply too much for a manual system. I was constantly adjusting three temperature and two fan speed controls. When you have three zones, ACC is a must.
