If petrol cars will have 78% market share, diesels 4%, and EVs and PIEVs 1%, what makes up the other 17%?

After reading the report, I'm wondering how any of what that report says is possible. Oil production declines but gasoline prices stay the same over the next 26 years? Electric vehicles don't improve at all, over the same time period even though they have improved greatly over the last ten years..... Where is the real AE02014 report?

Hybrids or Micro-hybrids will be the 17%.

To predict $3.90/Gal Gas in 2040 must mean the Feds have a very powerful crystal ball :-) I wonder if healthcare.gov will be working in 2040?

Diesel and Plug-in Hybrids are the quick way to boost MPG. To predict just 3% more of the car market going to these is very retrograde. Europe converted to Diesel in just over a decade. We can't add more than 2% extra in the US in over two decades?

But I suppose if there is a lack of political will to more to alternative fuels, we won't do it.
