That's absurd. The basic principle of technology is to somehow make our lives more enjoyable by either enhancing it's better aspects or by reducing the time we spend on the mundane. These software "updates" do neither. What they seem to do (to me) is outdate old technology to force you to buy newer. That is not advancement, that is greed.
I feel your pain, Donna. I have never forgiven the cellphone companies for "upgrading" their networks such that my Nokia 1100 would no longer work. It was a simple phone that was tiny with a mono screen and a battery that lasted for ever. Every phone since has felt like a brick.
