Yes, Passat has a large trunk. Compared to the MkV Jetta, however, it is shallower (less vertical depth), and those hinges really cut into the useful space to a surprising degree. Still, one of the best trunks in its segment, and bigger than an Audi A8. It has a much more useful pass-through area with folded rear seats than does the otherwise admirable Honda Accord.

I have both a MkV Jetta and a 2013 Passat. The Passat can definitely carry more back there than the Jetta -- the vertical depth is hardly noticeable in real-world hauling, but the hinges to eat up some space. It's amazing how much trunk space these two cars have.

Once upon a time, and probably still in a few places, some guys measured acceptable size of a car by if you could take three of your buddies and your four sets of golf clubs in the car. On the rare occasions I have done this, and I can count them on one hand, we used somebody's SUV. The fact is, however, this car can, and far easier than the few cars which still can do it. Most of those other cars cost a lot more, too.

No doubt about a big trunk in Passat, but how about having more lights to keep the trunk illuminated? The single lamp on the right rear panel is just a joke. Thanks to DIY folks, there is a DIY for mini LED's. I added 4 LED and now the trunk is well lit in the dark.
