Quite frankly, it looks like a cross between the prior generation BMW Z4 and a Honda S2000 - YAWN! ... not really terribly impressive styling, and the fat rear exhaust pipes look out of proportion to the size and horizontal theme of the rear. Also, so many other car makers have exhaust pipes that look like this; one would think they could have shown more imagination in this area. As for the pricing - easily 10- $15k too high. On the bottom end one can get a Boxster S that is $9k cheaper, 0.5 faster to 60, with a far prettier exterior, AND a MUCH nicer interior. On the top end, the 911 Carerra S will paste this car in terms of raw performance, looks (again) so much better, with an interior that makes the interior of the Jaguar look absolutely -BLAH!

Good luck Jaguar, but you'll soon be offering cash rebates and "killer" lease deals to move the metal. The Germans have leap-frogged this effort with the latest generation Boxster and 911.

Dat [non-permissible content removed]... Reminiscent of the Z8. Love it. Just needs more manual.

I'm 40 and my dad is 60. I took him to the LA auto show this year and he loved the look of the new F type Jag while I was luke warm to it, at best. I think/wonder if that generation gap is exactly what Jag is looking for.

Personally, given Jag's quality control, depreciation, reliability and dealer network here in the States there's no way in hell I'd consider this over a 981S.

This car looks very properly beautiful, but the new Boxster is now a looker as well, and to my eye more exciting. Can't wait to read a proper test drive!

He "doesn't want a manual" in it because they aren't going to offer one. He and Jaguar are not fooling anyone with that garbage.

First of all, thank goodness Jaguar left out that rotary knob and replaced it with a real shifter. I like the look and it seems to drive extremely well. I feel that it would have gained a lot of momentum if they had got it out before the new offerings from Porsche, but if that's what it take to make it come together then that's just fine. Excited to hear more!

Says he hates paddle shifter yet he drove using them quite a bit. Way to be consistent....

$70K and I have to look down at a steering wheel with bogus/blank buttons on the right steering wheel spoke? Not acceptable. Otherwise, looks like a very promising vehicle to drive. But that ONE item is what would kill it for me. You cant even find blank dummy buttons on a Fiesta nowadays, and thats an economy car !

I'd like to see more performance numbers here. From what is posted even the top model barely keeps up with a base Vette. The ZR1 will blow the doors off this Jag.

If it was my choice I would just wait for the coupe version and save 8 to 10k over the convertible. That means ~60k.
